Since 2016, Sheography™ all-women’s workshops have helped women of all ages, backgrounds, and photographic skill “Put the HER in the photograpHER®.” This safe, supportive learning environment inspires photographic growth, personal development, wanderlust, and life-long friendships.

To kickoff Sheography’s tenth anniversary celebrations, sixteen Sheography photography workshop alumnae from across the United States and Canada have come together to share their “Sacred Spaces.”

The “Sacred Spaces” online exhibition illuminates the deep connections between women of Sheography and the natural world within the United States. A carefully curated selection of thirty-one photographic prints convey the beauty, resilience, power, fragility, and tranquility of the outdoor environments that hold personal, historical, and cultural meaning.

Through our individual lenses, Sheographers share how these meaningful spaces of all sizes (from landscapes to details) shape our identity; celebrate nature as a source of our strength, introspection, healing, and inspiration; and convey our collective reverence for wild places.

“Sacred Spaces” encourages mindful engagement with a diversity of natural environments and emphasize the ever-present need to preserve the spaces that matter most to us. In doing so, we hope to elevate discussions about what “sacred” means (personally, spiritually, and communally) and foster community stewardship in cherishing and protecting our local and national public lands. We also aim to evoke peace, awe, wonder, beauty, and joy as our world continues to experience grief, disconnection, and social unrest.
